Canvas Art Update!

New home ~ updated artwork!

CreATE Beauty (1 of 1)

I really do love the quote “She Believed She Could, So She Did”, but sometimes you just want something different.  Doesn’t mean I won’t live by this quote, it is something that is branded in my heart.

Lately, I have been in creative mode, and I just wanted something to represent where I am in my life right now. That is why I chose the word “Create” and the “Arrow” which represents me climbing the ladder to success.

When I was younger, I had the worst self esteem…. Now I know beauty comes deep within! That is why I chose the words “Beautiful Forever“. Cause when we age, we wont always have our beauty on the outside, but we will forever have it on the inside. Looks don’t make a person beautiful… this is a lesson I have learned along my path called life.

If you would like to see how I made the “She Believed She Could, So She Did” Canvas’ please visit this PAGE (or if you would like to know how I added the scrapbook paper).

This is how I updated the Canvas’, by using my dusty Cricut machine that was sitting in storage for two years.  I bet it was so happy I pushed that power button.  I was so happy it stilled worked… The Cartridge I used was the shapes\formes. I did not use any decoupage gloss, making it easy for me to update them whenever I want to.

Change is Goood‘!

Hi! I just got a Cricut Explore and I’m working on my first project. Your “she believed…” project is what inspired me. I have the canvases covered and I’m ready to do my words but I can’t figure out what size font to use. Do you remember what size you used or can you tell me how to figure out what size I should go with? (for the 8×10 canvases)

Hello! I am so excited that you were inspired to create your own canvas art. I really don’t remember this size I used… it was so long ago (at the time I had the sure cuts alot software), but I would suggest measuring it out with a ruler to get the best size for the font. For the updated project, the size I used was 2 1/2 on the Cricut. I would love to see your project when it is done!!! BTW your email is so cute! 🙂

I started trying to cut out my words on Saturday and I still haven’t managed it. Everyone makes the Cricut sound so easy and I am horribly lost. I’d be happy with my black cardstock covering my purple background so that purple letters show through or having it look like yours and just having the words pasted onto the background but I can’t seem to manage either. I’m determined not to give up though, although it certainly is frustrating!

I’m glad you like my email address! I’m a Younique presenter and thought that these wall hangings would be fabulous promotion gifts for my team. But I have to figure out how to make mine first. LOL

I have only used the Cricut Expression & personal one, in my opinion these ones are the best. My husband bought me the one that prints and cuts(it was so bad I can’t even remember the name), and that was a headache. I sold it a few weeks later… I am not really sure about the Cricut Explore and it may be more complex then the ones I used. I will try to help you as best as I can! If you could tell me what kind of cartridge you are using? Or how are you trying to print your letters?

I have the Cricut Explore. I started a new project following a tutorial. I created my image (wording) and then choose my shape. The 8×10 canvas. Here is what I have so far…

I just can’t quite figure out how to get the wording cut out right if that makes sense. Also, I am not coordinated enough at this yet to use vinyl so I am using black cardstock. When I do get it right and put it on, do I just use the gloss on it or do I coat the whole canvas over?

Sorry to be a pain but I really am determined to figure this out so I can start on some adorable flour sack towels for my friend’s bday. But I can’t make the towels if I can’t figure out the letters. LOL

It is OK, you are not a pain! From what I see, the words you created look good. I would just move them closer to the one on the mat. When you place your card-stock on the mat, make sure it is also close to the one. The way the setup on the software should be them same set up on the mat. To get an idea of how it will look, take a look at your mat and the sizes should show how big the letters will look in real life. So if your wording goes 8 across then you know that it will fill your 8X10 canvas, you just have to figure out the length to whatever size you feel comfortable with. I would actually make it 7 X whatever to be on the safe side (and you can always play around with the size since you are testing it out). I know that the Cricut vinyl can be pricey, so see if your local hardware store carries the big roles of them. This way you can practice on that as well, and you will save so much money in the long run. Also sometimes the Dollar Tree sells the vinly, but it is hard to find black there. You could just buy what they have just to practice on. When you are a pro, which will be very soon, you will place the letters on your canvas, then you want to gloss them over! I hope everything I said helps you out and makes sense!!!

Thank you! I am going to give it another go today. I think I may need to weld instead of what I’ve been doing so I’m going to try that too.

You said you put your letters on and then glossed over them as well, did you do the whole canvas or just the letters?

Okay, I’m not a crafty person and I’ve never done anything like this before. And it took me a week to figure out the Cricut, but here is my finished project! Now that I know what I’m doing I’m going to be a crafting fool. I bought tons of canvases and paper at Michael’s on sale yesterday. LOL

You did such a great JOB!!! Get your craft on, it really is addicting once you figure it out! 🙂 So good! Is it OK if I show your project on my site and link it to your website?
