here are some fun projects you can do with shadowboxes, that can also make as great gifts.
i decided i wanted to do something special for my maid of honer and my dad, so take a look below to see how they were put together.
supplies:
3 for $12 @ big lots
the first project i started with was my maid of honor’s, i wanted to use her speech she wrote, which was beautiful, thoughtful and funny. her letter was handwritten and i didn’t want to rewrite the whole letter (plus it was more personal with her handwriting), so i decided to use a program called inkscape to trace the letters as a bitmap.
then i opened the letter on to a transparent background on gimp. i took the scrapbook paper and printed the letter on there and taped that as the background in the shadowbox. next i used the ruler to measure the outside border of the box and then i used the decoupage glue to add the the glitter scrapbook paper to it.
then i took three pictures from the wedding and added them on top of the letter so that it showed it off just a little. i felt like it was missing something so i decided to make a border for the pictures using the glitter scrapbook paper.
take a look below at the finished project:
next i worked on my dad’s, i wanted to do something really special for him, since he helped make my dream wedding come true. so i decided to use the song we danced to ‘you raise me up’ by josh groban as the background on the box .
everything i did for the other project i did the same for this one, except i added scrapbook paper to all the borders.
here is the final project:
